SMC827 – Financial Accountant /System Migration Project Management – 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
Overview:
Exciting opportunity to join an established, international Non-Banking Financial Institution. The successful candidate will assist in managing an Oracle system migration project, and will be responsible for developing and managing operational accounting control functions.
This role will entail liaising with internal/external stakeholders and conducting technical, highly complex accounting-based research and analysis projects, to provide management with definitive financial data and advice.
Responsibilities include:
- Participating in and/or leading special projects related to accounting, financial reporting, regulatory reporting and/or policy and procedure review.
- Championing improvement and implementation of new and existing accounting processes.
- Creating business requirement documents, and testing/implementing these.
- Supporting the monthly general ledger closing for assigned area, including analysing and interpreting account fluctuations and monthly/quarterly reporting.
- Reviewing accounting transaction documentation and identifying/working to resolve accounting issues and variances.
- Ensuring adherence to Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.
- Identifying risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Maintaining internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points.
- Ad-hoc responsibilities.
Skills/Experience:
- Full accountancy qualification (i.e. ACCA or CIMA qualified).
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Strong working knowledge of Oracle - Essential.
- Previous experience of assisting with/project managing system migration process.
- Experience of developing and implementing financial controls.
- Strong IT skills.
- Experience in the application of GAAP principles – Beneficial
- Experience in the application of IFRS Accounting Standards – Beneficial
